02 · Used Software Licences
Used licences, legally transferred
Buying used software is expressly permitted in the EU. In the UsedSoft case, the Court of Justice held that the distribution right in a sold licence is exhausted, so the first buyer may pass it on. For you that means the same software, often noticeably cheaper than new. What matters is that the transfer is properly documented and the original licence is taken out of use. That is exactly what we check.
